10 headlines from the October 5, 2026 pull. Each line is the outlet's and links to them.
This desk covers releases, licenses, and the governance of public code. A lead belongs here when a project ships, a license changes, a foundation decides, or a public repository becomes the thing another beat is building on. A corporate blog post about open source in the abstract is a weaker lead than the tag and the notes. The reader should be able to find the project, the version, and the people who can merge.
This page carries an original short version so the collection can be quoted without quoting an outlet. The intro states how the desk works, in our words, at a length that keeps the page from being only a list. Briefs will be the articles. They will be written here, checked against the paper's shape, and linked to the projects they discuss. A wire line is not rewritten into that article, and it is not given a slug.
Before those ten lines are chosen, incomplete scrapes are reduced. A feed item needs a headline a person can read, an address, a date, and a description that is more than a stub. Sources that returned nothing, or returned titles without descriptions, do not fill a slot with a placeholder. The slots that remain are real headlines from the day's pull, capped at ten, spread across outlets, and linked out.
