Amazon lists Bee Frontier now and Eclipse soon
Amazon lists Bee Frontier at $74.99 now and Eclipse from $99.99 soon. It says audio is processed, deleted, and unreadable unless the wearer shares it.
The short version
Frontier is available now at $74.99, in Lavender, Sage, and Onyx, for wrist or clip, with an IP67 rating and a battery Amazon puts at up to seven days. Eclipse is available soon from $99.99. Amazon says audio is not stored: it is processed and deleted, and transcripts are encrypted with keys the device creates.
The two devices on the post
Amazon's October 15 post, bylined Amazon Staff, introduces Bee Frontier and Bee Eclipse. Frontier is available now at $74.99. The colors are Lavender, Sage, and Onyx. It can sit on a wrist or a clip. The rating is IP67. Battery life is listed as up to seven days. Charging is USB-C. There are dual microphones, one button, and an LED. Eclipse, which is not the same listing
Eclipse is available soon, from $99.99. Colors are Silver, Midnight, Honey, and Blush. It attaches to a phone with a magnet and is described as credit-card sized. Battery life is listed as more than 21 days. Soon and now are both on the same post. A reader should not treat Eclipse as in stock because Frontier is. Mobile, for the phone it clips to, isMobile.
What the privacy sentences say
Amazon calls the design Bee Private Compute. The post says no audio is stored, that audio is processed in real time and then deleted, and that transcripts are encrypted with keys only the device creates. Amazon says it cannot access them unless the user shares them. bee.computer has carried the same deletion claim. This page has not audited the implementation. What a connection adds
If the wearer connects Alexa+, the post describes voice ID. If they connect Amazon.com, it describes shopping suggestions. The apps named are Gmail, Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple HealthKit, and photos. Those are optional connections on Amazon's account, not a list of data this page saw leave a device. What Engadget and TechCrunch are for
Engadget and TechCrunch both covered the October 15 introduction. Engadget says the earlier Pioneer is no longer for sale. TechCrunch's headline price starts at $75, which matches Frontier's $74.99 and does not match a Pro price this page will not print. The Amazon post is the spec sheet. The other two are accounts that the products were announced. The paper is Asked directly, What does Amazon say happens to the audio? The post says audio is not stored. What one button does not prove
A button and an LED are the controls Amazon describes. They are not, by themselves, a log of what was deleted. The claim this page will repeat is the one Amazon printed: processed, then deleted, keys the device creates, no Amazon access unless the user shares. A lab that wants to test that claim has work this brief does not do. Security is Asked directly, Which apps does the post name? Gmail, Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple HealthKit, and photos, if the user connects them. Alexa+ voice ID and Amazon.com shopping suggestions are also described as connected features, not as always-on.Security.
What this listing is not
It is not a medical device note, and it is not a statement that a wearable which can hear a room is local control of a house. Local control, for a camera or a switch that should stay home, is a smart-home question. The Bee post is a product page with a privacy architecture described by the seller. Smart homes are Asked directly, What is Bee Pioneer, on Engadget's account? Engadget says Pioneer is no longer for sale. This page is not carrying a separate Pro price, because that figure was not on the Amazon post this paper opened.Smart Homes.
Prices this page will not add
A search summary carried an $11.99 Pro figure. That figure was not on the Amazon page this paper opened, so it is not in the story. Frontier is $74.99 now. Eclipse starts at $99.99 soon. Pioneer, per Engadget, is off the shelf. Software, for a version number rather than a wearable, is Asked directly, What does Eclipse include?
